Having the original marriage certificate will be helpful in providing accurate and comprehensive data to the records office. A little Googling shows that Allegheny County Marriage Records are maintained by the Allegany County Circuit Court. Their address can be found here, and I’m assuming that equivalent websites exists for all US states. Google is proving invaluable in this process.
Here is the email I wrote to the clerk, Dawne Lindsey.
I’m writing to request two certified copies of the marriage certificate for Salvatore Sirna and Rosa Ridolfo Sirna. They were married in Allegheny County, MD, and their marriage license was issued on April 28, 1924. They were married on April 30, 1924.
I’m attaching a copy of the original document that our family has for your ease in finding the records.
Please reply with the costs associated, and an address to the payment. Also, please indicate if you prefer personal check, cashiers check, cash, etc.
We look forward to your reply,

I have checked the record books, and we do have the record of the marriage in which you are interested. If you are local, anyone may come in and pick up a marriage copy for $5.50 per copy. If you are not local, you may send your request by mail. We need the name of the bride, the name of the groom, and a check or money order for $5.50 per copy made payable to Clerk of Court.
Please either enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope or at least make sure the name and address is included where you wish the copy to be sent. If you have further questions, please let me know. Our address is Circuit Cout, 30 Washington Street, Cumberland, MD 21502
So I have sent this envelope with a return envelope, a brief letter and a copy of the original. Total cost of postage is $0.44 x 3 per 2 envelopes (I have rounded up to 3 stamps), which comes to $2.64. Additionally, I have included $5.50 for the document itself.
Total cost of this stage: $8.14
Total cost so far: $17.52
